New Chairman at Swaffham Town FC
On Monday the Swaffham Town Football Club Committee voted in Brendan Holmes as their new Chairman. Mr Holmes takes over from Ian Sherwood who stood down recently after 2 years at the helm.
Mr Holmes from Swaffham, who runs a business in King's Lynn and is a Swaffham Town Councillor, said "Various members of the committee have spoken to me over the past few weeks discussing what they would expect from me and I have to say they charmed me. I'm really looking forward to the challenge that comes with being Chairman of a non league club. It is an absolute honour to have been voted in. The club are so lucky to have such a passionate and talented committee in place, who care so much about the club and I'm really looking forward to helping them build on such fantastic foundations" he added "Swaffham has a great facility here, a friendly clubhouse and we're growing the youth teams. The 1st team is performing well and the reserves and u18's are playing some entertaining football. There really is a huge amount of potential at the club"
Mr Holmes joins the club in a period of change with Alex Vincent having taken over as the new 1st team manager. Swaffham Town, who are sitting mid table, are on the road next, facing Whitton United in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League with their next home match on the 21st of December against Stowmarket Town.
