Under 7's v The Wootons

A strong start for Swaffham's youngest players was ultimately undone by some strong individual performances from the Wootons' boys. Swaffham raced into an early lead with a cool finish from Liam Rutherford, turning a defender before powering a shot into the bottom corner. Wootons' grabbed a couple in reply but a determined Thomas Gavin pounced upon a mistake from the opposition keeper to score and a great individual effort from Arthur Rowling ensured the hosts took a 3-2 lead into half time.
The visitors started the second half strongly and had added four goals within the first five minutes and Swaffham struggled with the skill of the Wootons' forwards. They soon settled back into their rhythm and again Arthur Rowling waltzed through the opposing defence to add to his growing tally for the season and chalk up a forth goal for the Pedlars. The game ended 8-4 to the visitors, but Swaffham never let their heads drop and continued to show the great sportsmanship that has been a constant throughout the boys first season of football.
