Under 7's v West Winch

Kicking off with a reduced squad of six players the boys started strongly and never looked in danger against a good West Winch side. Swaffham threatened several times in the early exchanges and came close to scoring twice with shots going narrowly wide from Liam Rutherford and Arthur Rowling. At the other end Harry Smith was brave in goal on the few occasions that the opposition threatened and Sonny Harris, making a welcome return from injury, was strong in the tackle whenever called upon. Swaffham finally got the breakthrough that their possession deserved just before half time. Harry Anderson stepped up to take a free kick from the half way line and surprised everyone by firing it straight into the opposition net. The youngsters began the second half in high spirits, and sensing a win went forward looking to put the game to bed. Thomas Gavin marshalled the lads superbly, constantly encouraging his team mates and several opportunities went begging before Liam Rutherford powered home following a goalmouth scramble to seal the win for the Pedlars as Swaffham's youngest lads finally earned the win that their improvement has merited.
