Swaffham's first home game ended with a loss against second placed F.C.Clacton.

Twice in the first 10mins. saw Clacton struggle to deal with the long ball over the back four. Clacton's first effort on goal was in the 9th min. a free kick 30 yds out was headed wide by the visitors centre forward. The resultant goal kick saw Kenny cross to Plumb who failed to control the ball when well placed allowing a defender to clear. Swaffham's luck changed when Hunter took a quick free kick that partially cleared to Cornwall, his through ball found Hunter break clear and the midfielder chipped the keeper from 20 yds out,to open the scoring. A minute later Parkinson's could have made it two, but his chipped shot went narrowly the wrong side of the post. Clacton equalised on 20 mins. when a free kick went in low at Brookes far post. 5 mins later the home side were caught napping from a long throw, allowing the vistors no5 to volley into the net. Just before half time Plumb put Kenny away down the left, but the keeper won the race to the ball.
Plumb causing Clacton problems broke clear early in the second half, but his cross into the box was miscued by Parkinson, the keeper collecting the ball. Clacton's 3rd came in the 51min when poor marking allowed the no7 to break through and slide the ball past Brookes in the home goal. Spalding prevented another score for Clacton when he cleared off the line in the 55min. Brookes pulled off a fine save in th 81min to keep out a 25yd volley. Clacton rounded off the scoring in the 88min when a cross was not cleared and the no7 had the simplest of headed chances
