Folowing on from Swaffham's mid-week victory over Fakenham Town, goals from Jack Redhead and Joe Jackson, in the Red Insure League Cup, Swaffham had it all to do on Saturday facing League leaders Cambridge University Press.
The Pedlars started well and held the visitors to half time. Chances fell to Joe Jackson and Will O'Brien and equally CUP had opportunities prevented by good intervention by Matthew Parkinson and keeper Scott Cruikshank. Richard Cornwall replaced Dwayne Hockton in the 27th minute, Hockton still feeling the effects of the illness which stalled the start of his season.
The visitors took the lead in the 50th minute, the number 7 latching onto a ball knocked in from the left hand side, the ball squeezing in, brushing the post. The second coming fifteen minutes later, a long throw catching the Swaffham defence unawares, the flick on picked up at the back post. The final damage, Press awared a penalty, Cruikshank unable to pull off his previous penalty fortune.
The Pedlars next two league fixtures are away, Tuesday they travel to Great Yarmouth Town (7.45pm kick off) and on Saturday visit Halstead Town kick off 3pm.
Better fortune for both the Reserves and 'A' Team, victories away, the Reserves beating Loddon United 6-1. the 'A's Bridgham United 6-4, a hat trick for Ryan Skeet.
Next Saturday the Reserves are away to Bohemians in the Norfolk County Junior Cup, kick off 2pm. The 'A' Team have their first home league fixture, hosting Dereham Town "A"
