Swaffham Town 1 Newmarket Town 2
Great entertainment for those braving the wintery conditions, fantastic football played in the spirit intended. Disappointment for Paul Hunt's team, having taken the lead in the third minute through Rory Harper making the most of a goal-mouth scramble and getting the all important touch to thread the ball home. The Pedlars held the lead until the 85th minute, when the visitors equalised and then won the game in the second minute of added time, through a mis-hit shot!
Bar the goals, Swaffham showed how their preparation and determination is paying off, demonstrating clinical football techniques through defence to upfront. Opportunities missed during the game for Joe Jackson and Alex Vincent, but time will surely pay dividends and make the "Pedlars" team threatening for promotion places. All round a great game, both sides giving there all, well done to Newmarket for there contribution to this fixture.
The Reserves game away to Cromer Town was postponed through a waterlogged pitch, however the 'A' Team kept the Swaffham flag flying, beating Rockland United 3-1, Charlie Gunner, Tom Grass and Lee Goodsell finding the back of the net.
Next weekend, the First Team travel to Braintree Town Reserves, looking to repeat their earlier league?victory against them, kick off 3pm.The Reserves are at home to Wymondham Town Reserves, kick off 2.30pm and the 'A' Team host Northwold Sports and Social Club, kick off 2pm.
