Superb "Pedlars" outplay the Irons of Braintree

Braintree Town Reserves 1 Swaffham Town 3

Following on from Easter Monday's victory over Fakenham, the Pedlars travelled eighty two miles to Braintree for their meeting with the Club one place ahead of them in the league.
An unsettling opening for Swaffham, Braintree pressing hard and forcing two early corners, both taken easily by keeper Scott Cruickshank.Given time to find their feet the tables turned and efforts from Toby Hilliard and Alex Vincent narrowly missed the mark. Great play in the middle of the park, Jack Redhead, Mikey Thompson and Loui Hockton controlling play and dominating the mid-field. A blistering break by Loui on the left hand side, cutting in towards goal, his shot from a narrow angle hitting the post. The break came in the thirty third minute, a through ball from Daren Hockton, setting Vincent free to chip the keeper. Further pressure to close the half, saw Captain Dean Miller head wide from a Redhead corner and volley just over from 25 yards.
Just six minutes into the second half, a driving run by Hilliard, the ball squared into the box, Rory Harper side footed into the net. The home-side had a goal dis-allowed for offside on the turn of the hour, the Pedlars defence working well to move up the field, leaving the Braintree centre forward wrong sided.Vincent netted for the second time on seventy six minutes,Loui Hockton providing the assist for Vincent, placing his shot in the corner under the sprawling keeper.Braintree scored a consulation two minutes later, a cracking finish from twenty yards, Cruickshankpowerless to stop it. A fine display by the Pedlars, five matches remaining and a respectable league position.
