Pedlars derby double.? Downham Town 0 - Swaffham Town 2.
Swaffham Town completed the league double over neighbouring rivals Downham Town this saturday, claiming an important further three points.? The majority of the play was?Swaffham's, the woodwork coming to the rescue of Downham on several occasions.? From the start Swaffham dominated, Alex Vincent having a shot parried?in the fourth minute, Joe Jackson hitting the post with the rebound.? Vincent assisted with a floated cross, perfectly?met by the head of Jamie Buhlemann to put Swaffham ahead in the ninth minute.? The second came on the stroke of the half hour, Captain Dean Miller leading by example, latching onto a scambled ball on the edge of the box, volleying low and hard to the right hand corner.
Solid defending kept the Pedlars points assured and good fortune and a couple of great saves from the young Downham keeper (Pearson) left the scoreline finalised.
Different fortune back at Shoemakers Lane, the Reserves grinding out a well deserved draw against Freethorpe, David Jackson and Ray Halms scoring for Swaffham.? The 'A' Team losing 2-3 to top of the table Morley Village, Ryan Skeet and Craig Titmarsh finding the back of the net for the Pedlars.
Next week there is no game for the First team, the Reserves are away to Costessy Sports (2pm k/o), the 'A' Team travel to Rockland United in the 4th Round of the Ben Smith Memorial Cup (1.45pm
