Pedlars back to winning ways
Swaffham Town 3 Cornard United 1
The visitors showed character, starting strongly and putting the home-side defence under pressure. An early injury for Richard Cornwall, turning his ankle, saw him retire from the game and Will O'Brien filling the gap. Swaffham took the lead in the 26th minute, Toby Hilliard winning a header and setting Alex Vincent free to slot past the keeper. Nearly a second goal five minutes later, a long throw from Matthew Parkinson, met sweetly by the head of Captain Dean Miller, his effort narrowly wide. Vincent returning the earlier favour to Hilliard, setting him free, his resulting shot bringing out the best from the Cornard keeper.
Early into the restart, Vincent rattled the bar, latching on to a Jack Redhead cross. Swaffhamwere forced to rethink their ways, the visitors equalising in the 63rd minute, a deeply floated free kick, muddled into the net at the back post. The shock to the system had the desired effect, two minutes later, Lee Woolmore headed home, Hilliard the provider. The game finally put to bed in the 88th minute, Vincent getting his second, put through by Loui Hockton, cutting inside the defender and netting at the near post.
A valuable three points for the Pedlars, not their best performance to date but a promising close to the season?looking favourable, with the prospective talent being brought through the Club by Manager Paul Hunt.
