Young Pedlars go down to league leaders, but in style

Missing several players through work committments and injury, the Pedlars took probably it's youngest side fielded this season, to Newmarket. Starting strong, an early opportunity for Lee Woolmore, his head from Jack Redhead's free kick making the Jockey's keeper stretch. Newmarket opened the scoring in the twelth minute, a driven free kick from the left hand side, clinically finished by Bugg the number four, Scott Cruickshank standing no chance. The second came in the twenty sixth minute, a long ball forward beating the defence, Bugg claiming his second. The home side made it three before half time, Swaffham again beaten by the long The final opportunity of the half for Swaffham to pull one back, Dean Miller narrowly missing goal, latching onto a Redhead free kick at the back post.
The second half, Swaffham played the much better football but the experience and strength of the Jockeys allowed their 'ugly' style to keep on top. A fourth goal in the 77th minute, well and truely put the game to bed, Cruickshank making a great stop to parry a whipped in shot, the ball followed up for an easy finish. Swaffham came close to a consolation, David Jackson rattling the bar from the edge of the box, the rebound made safe by the Newmarket defence.Lessons to be learned but the Pedlars showing character and etermination which will see them in good stead as the season progresses to what promises to be an exciting finish.
Back at Shoemakers Lane, great results for the Reserves and 'A' Teams.Goals from Robbie Howling and Stephen Aspery saw the Reserves clinch a 2-1 victory over North Walsham Town Reserves.More convincingly, the 'A's beating Gressenha5-1, Matthew Coe, Blake Stangroome and a hat-trick for Ryan Skeet.
