Jackson does the "Trick"

Pedlars Cup runs continue.
Jackson and Weaver-Pope hat tricks at the Lane keep the Cup alive.

A shakey start for Swaffham against a physical Ipswich Wanderers side. The visitors muscled in and took the lead four minutes into the game and made it two within 18 minutes. Things settled and Lewis Thompson pulled one back opening his Pedlars account for this season and Jack Redhead equalised in the 32nd minute, a free kick which the keeper could not contain. Wanderers re-took the lead with six minutes of the half remaining, a soft penalty decision, Lee Brooks getting to the ball but unable keep from going in.
Swaffham awarded a penalty five minutes into the second half, Alex Vincent unable to keep advantage following his heels being clipped. Redhead stepped up to the mark and levelled the scores again, a clinical finish bottom right hand side. For the first time in the game Swaffham took thelead through Joe Jackson in the 57th minute, he then made it 5-3 in the 64th ! Twenty minutes to go and both teams giving their all, Wanderers were awarded another penalty, Brooks deemed to have brought a man down. He made amends, blocking the strike and pushing wide of his left hand post for a corner. The game was finally put to bed on the stroke of full time, Jackson claiming his hat-trick, running on to a perfectly weighted through ball from Mark Allibone and lobbing the keeper from twenty yards, the ball dropping on to the goal line and bouncing into the net. A demonstration of grit and determination from the Pedlars, their performance worthy of the victory.

Out on the Myers field, the 'A' Team were also competing in Cup Competition, a 4-1 victory over Rockland United in the Ben Smith Memorial Trophy. Swaffham taking the lead through Blake Stangroome, Rockland equalising but the Pedlars retaking the lead through David Weaver-Pope before the break. Weaver-Pope completing his hat-trick in the second half for a convincing victory.
This week the First Team are in Cup action again, Norwich United visit Shoemakers Lane Tuesday for the Red Insure Cup, on Thursday the Under 18's host Newmarket Town, both games kick off at 7.45pm.
Next Saturday the First Team revert back to the League, AFC Sudbury Reserves the visitors, kick off 3pm. The Reserves are away to Thorpe Village and the 'A' Team again play Rockland United, this time in the league, kick off at Shoemakers Lane 2pm.
