Pedlars get three at Melford,in hot conditions.

Pedlars off to perfect start

This weekend Swaffham Town visited the picturesque Suffolk village of Long Melford to open their account in this seasons Thurlow Nunn League.

Melford have always been a difficult side for Swaffham to play away and have had the knack of pinching a last minute decider or turning a match around and grinding a victory from behind.

A nervous start for both teams but the Pedlars settled first and started to demnostrate their tidy short ball, on the ground passing game. Rewards paid off with Mark Allibone heading home from 8 yards, Alex Vincent providing the perfect delivery, 26 minutes into the half. The pressure increased just three minutes later, Vincent again with the assist, Rory Harper volleying past the keeper from 6 yards. The homeside countered but intervention from the strong arms of keeper Lee Brooks and a further chance rattling the bar kept the order until half time.
With spectators still finishing their burgers and teas, the Pedlars made it three, just a couple of minutes into the half, Vincent again the providing a driven cross, deflected by the central defender past his own keeper. The back four of Dwayne Hockton, Jake Platten, Matthew Parkinson and Dan Buhlemann holding strong and working well as a unit. Richard Cornwall and Matthew Prudence solid in the mid-field, tireless work up front from Joe Jackson and Alex Vincent. Allibone and Harper getting their rewards. Alex Gathercole, Liam Reed and George Hutton all getting a run out replacing Allibone, Prudence and Jackson respectively. All three points returning to Norfolk.
