Town Delight at Cornard

Magnificent seven for Swaffham

The Pedlars completed their double over Cornard United, both fixtures, a seven nil drumming for Cornard. The first came just seven minutes into the game, a great through ball by Captain David Spalding, releasing Joe Jackson to score. A minute later, Jackson's striking partner Craig Burton, made it two, beating a pair of defenders to lash the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Burton again in the action four minutes later, playing in Nathan Cross to slide the ball low, past the keeper's stretch for number three. A Jackson corner in the twenty second minute met by the head of Scott Voutt, put the tie to rest, the only doubt would be what the final score would be? Cornard rallied and defended better, their keeper maintaining the deficit. Opportunities fell to Nathan Clarke and Daren Hockton, both failing to find the target.
Early into the second half, Richard Cornwall replaced Spalding through injury and Jack Redhead replaced Will O'Brien. Burton's second came from a Jackson corner, his strike leaving the Cornard keeper no chance. Jackson then bagged his second, beating two to volley in. Jake Platten replaced Jackson in the 68th minute, his first impact on the game came three minutes later, receiving from Burton, two touches forward and then side footing past the keeper. Final chances in the closing minutes, James Miller vollying over from 25 yards from a Platten corner and Miller delivering from a corner for Daren Hockton to head wide.
Tuesday night, League leaders Gorleston are visitors to Shoemakers Lane, Thursday the Under 18's have their last League fixture, Wisbech Town the visitors, both fixtures kick off 7.45pm.
Next Saturday the First Team travel to March Town United, k/o 3pm. The Reserves are away to Easton, k/o 2.30pm and the 'A' Team are at home, their visitors Narborough, k/o 3pm.
