Swaffham started the first half of extra time against the wind. In the first minute keeper, Dean 'Rocky' Mayes was fouled in the box. The resulting free kick defended and the play restricted to midfield. Substitute Mehdi Mehrpour, broke in the 7th minute, beating two and crossing low across the box. The ball missed by all in the goal area. Medhi showing further promise, combining with match fit Jack Redhead, to apply further pressure to the Downham defence two minutes later, penalties looming!
In the 11th minute a punt by Scott Voutt from 25 yards straight into the arms of the Downham keeper. Moments later, Joe Jackson was brought down outside the box, the resulting free kick hit over the bar. On the stroke of the half ending, Mehdi set a perfect ball through for Jackson, the stike across goal just missing and going safe for the Downham defence.
The first minute of the final period, a poor clearance attempt by the Downham keeper was punished by Nathan Cross for a well deserve Swaffham goal. The final nail in the coffin coming eight minutes later with a fine solo effort by Joe Jackson, beating two in the box to slot home and make the result concrete.
