The Poachers take the spoils from the Pedlars
The Pedlars made the 100 mile round-trip to county neighbours Boston Town in Lincolnshire last Saturday, for their penultimate friendly before the start of the Ridgeons League season. A squad depleted through holiday, work and other sports committments provided the chance for Manager Paul Hunt to view some up and coming new blood in his selection and test theories before competition begins in earnest.
The home side, 'The Poachers' have had a strong and promising pre-season start, recently beating their conference namesakes, Boston United 2 - 0.
The eventual outcome was a three nil defeat for the Pedlars, the difference one goal at half time. Two basic mistakes leading to two give-away goals in the second half. Sound performances from David Spalding and Matty Parkinson, with promising and pleasant to watch play in the mid field from a side on Saturday which didn't particularly have a proven striker.
