Swaffham Town 1 Cornard United 1
Still missing a few familiar faces, the Pedlars pick up a well deserved point in their opening match. A corner won in the second minute, well delivered by Dwayne Hockton, was beaten away by the visiting defence. Further efforts from Richard Cornwall, Aaron Clifford and Nathan Cross never really put the Cornard keeper under pressure.
At half time Mehdi Mehrpour was replaced by Adam Archer and the half started pretty much as the first, Swaffham having the better opportunities, forcing the best from the Cornard defence. In the 53rd minute, against play, Cornard broke through and scored beating the keeper, Carl Jones at the near post. The pressure now on the home side a further substitution, Joe Jackson replacing Blake Stangroome. Cornard now in the driving seat applied pressure but the Pedlars defence stood firm and mopped up crosses from two corners and a free kick in quick sucession.
Jacob Woods replaced Daren Hockton in the 72nd minute to make his First Team debut. A minute later a freak back pass which left the keeper no alternative but to handle, gave Cornard an indirect free kick in the area. The kick was deflected for a corner, the corner was cleared setting Jackson free, his shot wide of the goal. The point salvaged in the 89th minute, a long throw from Matthew Parkinson, sweetly met by the head of Araron Clifford, hitting the post and finally netted by the driving head of Scott Voutt following in.
