Despite a dream start, taking the lead in the 5th minute following great interaction in the mid-field and a super strike from Richard Cornwall, netting in the top corner from twelve yards, the Pedlars could not retain the advantage, allowing the homeside to come back and punish mistakes. A strong wind, low autumn sun and poor playing surface did not help matters but can not be excused for the complacent and disappointing performance, out of character for this young and growing squad. The visitors equalised at the half hour mark, David Spalding caught in possession and robbed by the number ten leaving keeper Dean Mayes little chance. Efforts by Jack Redhead, Will O'Brien and Scott Voutt coming close but never a threat to the Debenham goal.

The hosts took the lead in the 63rd minute, a driven cross from the right, beating the defence, the centre forward drilling home. The match put to bed just three minutes later, a further mistake allowing number 9 Heathcote his second of the afternoon, a simple side foot home. Some encouragement for the future, substitutes Lee Woolmore and Sam Loomes held their own against this physical side and injected some spark into the Pedlars, certainly ones to watch for the future.

Next Saturday the Pedlars meet Thetford Town for the third time already this season, on this occasion the Ridgeons First Division, knock out cup, kick off 3pm. Following the previous encounters a memorable display and the possibility of fireworks between these derby rivals, more or less guarenteed.

The Reserves travel to Wymondham Town Reserves and the 'A' Team are at home to Rockland United, both matches kick off at 2pm.

This Thursday, 3rd November, the Under 18's are at home to Wisbech St. Mary in the Ridgeons mid-week floodlit league, kick off 7.45pm.
