Goddie run out winners

Godmanchester Rovers:-
1 Carl Mackney,2 Stephen Hurst,3 Jonny Hall,4 Matty Haniver,5 Tom Moran,6 Jason King,7 Michael Hyem,8 Chris Hyem,9 James Hall,10 Paul Bass,11 Joe Furness,12 James Freshwater,14 Mark Ling,15 Nick Hurst,16 Gary Dean.

Swaffham Town:-
1 Dean Mayes,2 Nathan Cross,3 Tom Grass,4 Lee Woolmore,5 Matty Parkinson,6 Will O'Brien,7 Shane Twaite-Smith,8 Richard Cornwall,9 Aaron Clifford,10 Joe Jackson,11 Alex Vincent,12 Blake Stangroome,14 Jordan Lown,15 Tom Bailey,16 Lewis Hemeter.

A disappointing scoreline under difficult weather conditions and a saturated playing surface but more importantly additional concerns with Richard Cornwall added to Paul Hunt's list of injured players! Cornwall retiring in the 39th minute with a pulled hamstring, the Pedlars already three goals down, joins Scott Voutt and Jack Redhead on the recovery list, doubtful to be available for some time. Godmanchester Rovers, clearly the most disciplined side encountered this season did what they had to do but the 7-1 result didn't reflect the determination and spirit of Hunt's squad.

A consolation goal finished clinically by Alex Vincent provided some spark to the afternoon with 15 minutes to go, but Rovers had done enough, assisted by two unavoidable own goals. Daren and Dwayne Hockton unavailable for the first team due to work committments, provided opportunity for Jordan Lown, Tom Bailey and Blake Stangroome, each holding their own against experienced opposition, the Pedlars probably the youngest squad in the Ridgeons First Division, a good omen for seasons to come.

More luck at home, the Reserves beating Easton by a single goal, Ashley Choppen the scorer. The 'A' Team claiming aan 8-1 victory away to Colkirk in the Ambulance Cup, an encouraging hat-trick for Jordan Cantwell.

A busy week ahead, the Under 18's playing Soham Town Rangers at home Thursday evening, 7.45pm kick off. The First Team entertain Long Melford next Saturday, 3pm k/o, the Reserves travel to Cromer Town Reserves (2.30pm k/o), whilst the 'A' Team are at home to Bridgham United 2pm kick off.
