March Town United 1 Swaffham Town 3
Three deserved points for Swaffham, taking the wind out of March's mid-week win at Thetford. The Pedlars still struggling with injury problems, fielded a young aspiring squad. An early shock for the home side, Jack Redhead lobbing from 30 yards, the shot beating the keeper, hitting the underside of the bar and going in off the back of the keeper's head, in the second minute. The 'Hares' turned on the pressure but any threat was absorbed by a determined defence under the guidance and leadership of Matty Parkinson. Swaffham's second came ten minutes from the half time whistle, a perfectly weighted cross by Will O'Brien found the shortest player on the pitch, Alex Vincent, who rose between two defenders tosuperbly net with the perfect header.
The game was put to bed in the 81st minute, a viscious strike from 20 yards, straight into the top left hand corner, allowing Vincent to claim his second. The home-side scored a consolation goal five minutes from time, an easy knock-in following a shot hitting the bar. This proved a fine display from Paul Hunt's team, probably one of the youngest fielded side in the Ridgeons league on Saturday, promoting the potential of the young talent that the area can offer.
