Debenham's double takes points

Swaffham Town 1 Debenham L.C. 4

A dream start for new signing Alex Vincent, putting the Pedlars in front after 8 minutes on his debut.  A break through the centre, his shot slotted past the keeper.  The advantage cancelled just 4 minutes later, a well placed free kick from the left hand side struck sweetly round the wall and into the top right corner of the net.  In the 14th minute, Joe Jackson broke through the Debenham lines, his effort cleared from the line by the right back.  Dean Mayes called into action twice during the half, a fine shot stop and then cleanly taking a free kick delivery.  Swaffham finishing the half the stronger, Scott Voutt lining Vincent up to see his shot vollied over the bar,  Jack Redhead hiting the cross-bar from a free kick, the ball ricocheting out for a goal kick.
An early corner in the second half, met by the head of Voutt, beating the keeper but denied on the line by the Debenham defence.  Good footwork by Will O'Brien enabled him to make space and draw in players to set Jackson up to shoot, his effort hitting the post.  The visitors took the initiative twenty minutes into the half, driving down the left wing, the cross met by the centre forward to knock in.  The third came just five minutes later, the Pedlars caught with their heads down.  Swaffham rallied but the luck was not with them, O'Brien and Jackson further coming close but unable to convert.  Debenham finished their afternoon's work, winning a penalty in the dying minutes to make it four.
Next Saturday, the First Team welcolme March Town United to Shoemakers Lane, the teams first meeting this season, the 'Hares' in form and sitting comfortably in third place in the league.  Kick off 3pm.
The Reserves on a run at the moment, coming back from two down with twenty minutes to go at North Walsham Town Reserves, to win 3-2!  They travel to Freethorpe next Saturday, the 'A' Team are at home to Thetford Rovers Reserves, both matches kick off at 2pm.
Many thanks to The George Hotel and to the Pedlars Cafe for once again providing after match refreshments for the First and 'A' team's respectively.  Without this community spirit and support, the Club would struggle to provide sport for so many at the standard it does.
