Swaffham Town 1 March Town United 5
Certainly a game of two halves, the home side taking the initiative in the first half and not turning up for the first twenty minutes of the second!
Some fine defending from the start, Matthew Parkinson and Tom Grass absorbing the pressure applied by March with ease. The opening goal coming in the 15th minute, Jake Platten driving down the left wing, a low cross finding Richard Cornwall to turn and shoot, his finish curving into the bottom right hand corner. The visitors responded but good work by Dean Mayes kept the sheet clean. Further opportunity on the half hour, Jack Redhead's free kick finding the head of Scott Voutt, straight into the keepers arms.
The tide turned early in the second period, an easy head in for the centre forward with just two minutes gone, a further tap in for him in the 51st minute. March stalwart, Luke Pepper made it three in the 53rd, a throw in to the right back to float in a measures cross, Pepper heading past Mayes. Further damage in the 60th minute, a breaking run, route one, the shot slotted by a helpless Mayes. The final goal coming in the 65th minute, a side footed knock-in for the number 15 substitute, picking up a loose ball from a headed knock back.
The Pedlars have their work cut out to stem the flow of goals against them, unlucky thirteen in their last three games! The work begins next Saturday, away to Essex based Cornard United, kick off 3pm
