With the added interset of father v son Mick Manager of Swaffham Neil Assistant Mangager at Dereham this local derby kicked off with Dereham attacking down the slope.
The early encounters were fairly even with the first real opening coming in the 22nd min after a mis judgement in the Dereham goal by ex Swaffham starlet Higgs seeing Keith Polski's effort being cleared off the line.
The home attacking force was beginning to probe the Dereham and defence and with 24 min's gone a superb volley by Richie Cornwall sailed just over the opposition bar.
The first half ended fairly evenly with both sides playing entertaining attcking football.
The second half began with Dereham coming out of the blocks the faster of the two sides and on and brought out two excellent saves from Brookes in the home teams goal on 51 and 60 minutes.
With wholesale changes being made by both teams the game for a short period became fragmented.
Derehams best chance of the game came on 66min's when Goalkeeper Webster made a poor clearance allowing a dereham forward on goal but his shot was well over the bar.
This incident seemed to rejuvenate the Swaffham team.
Matt Kenny won a great tackle in mid field on 68 min's to send Kyle Plumb on a looping run, when the keeper came to narrow the angle Plummie neatly passed the ball around him to score with a very well taken effort from 18 yards.
