An end to end encounter in the opening minutes of this fixture, with Gt. Yarmouth volleying over in the 4th min and Kenny having great a header pushed onto the bar from a Norman knock on in the 7th min. The deadlock was broken on 14 mins. when Swaffham failed to clear a ball into the box with the resultant shot hitting Rainford for a deflected goal. The Pedlars appeared stunned after there early creativity and periodically dried up. Yarmouth's second came in the 24th min., following a corner after a fine Brookes save, an unchallenged header from the Yarmouth no 4 (Thompson) finishing in the net. This seemed to re-ignite the home team and a well worked move from defence starting with Hemeter finding Norman down the right hand side whose superb cut back allowed Hunter to shoot. The Yarmouth keeper did exceptonally well to parry the goal bound shot but Plumb was on hand to knock in the re-bound. 2mins later in the 40 min. Norman was brought down in the box but failed to score from the spot kick.
Swaffham continued to press in the second half but there seemed little evidence that they were likely to score. The football was entertaining and the intemittent drizzle welcome on a warm breezy evening wit the score line remaining 1-2 to the end.
